What Technology Do You Wish Was Never Invented

Technology has become ubiquitous in our lives these days, and while it’s generally good, there are many instances where technology has caused more harm than good. Here are some of the technologies I wish had never been invented, as they have affected us negatively and may even lead to loss of life if not abolished as soon as possible. Read on to know more about what technologies you wish were never invented and why!

Technology

The Internet

Technology is very wonderful because it has greatly changed the way we live today but it also came with inventions that seem to be irrelevant and better off without. In fact, some technologies are very dangerous and have led to an increase in health issues, addiction, and even life-loss to humanity. The internet is a good example of this as people often spend their time on the internet instead of doing anything else, sometimes resulting in depression due to a lack of social interaction. This invention can also lead to an addiction for some as they continuously want more information or an answer for something that they’re looking for on the internet which can cause them great distress when they cannot find what they’re looking for.

Cell phones

When it comes to technology that I wish had never been invented, my first thought is cell phones. Cell phones are the most frequently used type of device and have become a necessity for many people. With them being such a big part of our lives, it has become hard to live without them. The only way you can go without a cell phone is if you’re living in an area where there’s no signal or if you have service but don’t have your phone on you. This invention has led to addiction and increased health issues. For example, some of these health issues are insomnia, depression, and anxiety because people are addicted to their screens and will get anxious when they run out of battery or when they forget their phone at home or work.

Nuclear weapons

Technology

The creation of nuclear weapons was one of the most controversial events in modern history. It led to a new era and era of weapons that can destroy an entire city in seconds. The effects of these weapons have been felt for decades after they were created and it is hard to imagine what our world would be like without them. Nuclear weapons are something we will never know, but thankfully they seem to be slowly diminishing with talks about more countries joining the nuclear deal and moving away from this dangerous invention.

Genetically modified organisms (GMOs)

Genetically modified organisms or GMOs are any organisms whose DNA has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. The first genetically modified product, a tomato containing increased levels of iron, was sold in 1994. A year later, the FDA approved the world’s first genetically engineered animal drug: a growth hormone for dairy cows. Since then, GMO foods have become increasingly popular due to their ability to increase crop yields and provide nutritional benefits to humans such as vitamin A-enriched rice. However, GMOs have also come under scrutiny for their potential health risks and negative environmental impacts.

Factory farming

Factory farms have also been responsible for an increase in antibiotic-resistant bacteria as well as a proliferation of livestock diseases with no known cure. They are contributing to the rise of foodborne illnesses, such as Salmonella and Campylobacter, which are the second and third most common causes of foodborne illnesses in the United States. Factory farming is creating long-term consequences for humanity that will last longer than any generation has yet lived on this planet.

Petroleum products

Technology

Technology is very wonderful because it has greatly changed the way we live today but it also came with inventions that seem to be irrelevant and better off without. In fact, some technologies are very dangerous and have led to an increase in health issues, addiction, and even life-loss to humanity. Petroleum products should never be forgotten when discussing what technology we wish was never invented. One of the most destructive inventions ever created has been petroleum products.

Online Dating

Apps like Tinder, Bumble, and Grindr have made dating easier by putting the power in your hands. But these dating apps are a double-edged sword. They are great for meeting new people but are also a breeding ground for bad behavior. These apps have led to hookups that often lead to one-night stands and promiscuity. What’s even worse is that some of these hookups have led to assault or rape which makes it unsafe for women who use these apps because men can easily find them due to their location being displayed on the map. The lack of anonymity and safety on these apps has led many people to delete them from their phones and turn back to old-fashioned methods of finding love, such as going out with friends or joining clubs or activities.

Video Games

In the past few decades, video games have grown from being a simple form of entertainment to a multi-billion dollar industry with more and more people playing. Video games that require you to control an on-screen character and guide them through levels in order to complete a story are known as Action Games. This includes the popular shoot-em-up titles such as Halo or Gears of War. These types of games are addictive because they offer players an opportunity to escape reality. In addition, they allow players to compete against one another which can be very satisfying. The downside is that many people will spend too much time playing these types of games and forget about their other obligations.

Selfies and Selfie Sticks

Technology

The selfie stick is a device that attaches to a camera or smartphone and allows the user to take self-portraits from a distance. It can be used for photography and videography, but it’s mainly known as an accessory for selfies. Selfie sticks are typically made of plastic with a metal or plastic telescoping rod attached. The selfie stick has been around since 2010, but they have become increasingly popular over the last few years. They’re usually used with smartphones because they don’t work as well with larger cameras.

Selfies can be addictive and can lead to negative outcomes like low self-esteem, addiction, and even life loss due to injury or animal attack when trying to snap the perfect photo. Furthermore, some people believe that selfies promote narcissism.

Fracking

For those that don’t know what fracking is, it is the process of extracting oil and gas from deep underground. Fracking has been around since the 1950s but has only become increasingly popular within the last decade. It’s a process of drilling into the earth and pulling out natural resources that help to power our country. However, there are many negative effects of fracking that contribute to making this technology one I wish never existed. For example, fracking releases toxic chemicals into the ground which can contaminate water sources nearby and even lead to increased cancer rates for those living in close proximity. Furthermore, because it takes so much more energy than traditional extraction methods, it contributes even more towards climate change and global warming.
